Ever since starting my twitter campaign of book promotion/ alternate news headlines, this website has seen a major uptick in visitors, averaging about 10 or 15 per day. This is much higher than I had gotten before. I am slowly (very slowly), estabishing a twitter following. I have 3 followers, and at least one of those is my beta (I have a second beta, and it's possible that one of the other followers is her, under an alternate name, I'm not sure). Another one, at least, seems to be a fellow author, but it seems that more than are following are coming to the page. Hopefully establishing this presence a couple weeks to a month or so out from when the book is published (I am hitting some delays that I will detail in a later post) will help once I actually publish in order to get sales. I've heard that potential customers generally need to hear about a product more than once before deciding to buy, so maybe this will help build up awareness about the book. Below is a story that I am archiving from the daily alternate news.
Latin American Union Accepts Thousands of American Draft-Dodgers
Thousands of Americans fleeing over the Texas border have found a sympathetic hearing in Mexico, the Northern-most part of the Latin-American Union, the country which formed in 1980 and includes all American lands from Mexico South. The refugees have illegally fled from the United States in order to avoid the draft. American draft policies have been strengthened in the past two years, since the Soviet missile strike on Cleveland killed more Americans on American soil than any other attack in the past seven years. President Gingrich has pledged that the Soviet Union will be blasted into submission by America and its allies within the decade. The Latin-American Union is the only major world power that has not allied with America in this struggle against communism and totalitarianism. They are now providing sanctuary for American draft-dodgers. In a recent meeting with President Gingrich, the Latin-American president has pledged loans to the United States to help with the war effort, but is still refusing to contribute troops of its own or make a greater effort to close its own border to American criminals or to return these criminals to the United States.
