Over the past week, I've been working with an excellent beta and have polished up my draft substantially. This process was really enlightening for me. I never noticed how many times I use words like "just" or "that" when they aren't really necessary. Between fixing these and other circumlocutions, and cutting a few things that weren't necessary, my new draft is only 63k words instead of the 67k of the original draft, and that's after I added in a 200 or so word scene in this new version. The result has hopefully been a tighter narrative and I'm hoping to publish on amazon
